My Journey
I am an entrepreneur with many years of experience founding and managing successful ventures in retail and manufacturing—in both brick and mortar, and internet settings. During my time in corporate America, I encountered a common theme—managers who lack the communication skills and self-confidence necessary for successful business leadership. Too often, many of us succumb to self-doubt; the feeling that we are just not good enough to earn success. It is my firm belief that speech anxiety is the root cause of a lack of self-confidence.
More than 80% of Americans are plagued with speech anxiety and a general fear of speaking in public. Overcoming speech anxiety opens up a world of opportunities that may before have seemed impossible. When we find our voices, we communicate more clearly and confidently, tell better stories, give more dynamic presentations, feel free to speak up when called upon, and position ourselves to be taken seriously. We discover that we are, in fact, great enough to earn outstanding success.
More than 20 years ago, I began my personal quest to overcome debilitating speech anxiety. When I found my voice, I unlocked a potential I didn't realize I had. I discovered that I have a powerful tool within me that is uniquely my own, and I discovered that I have the ability to speak with confidence.
Today, I am passionate about helping others to find their voices, and have devoted my life to that goal. In recent years, I have founded several successful speaking clubs in both private businesses and service organizations. Perhaps my most rewarding experience came when I encountered the unique opportunity to found a speaking club in a prison.
I have devoted many hours to developing tools to create a safe environment in which others find their voices, and develop or restore self-confidence. It recently occurred to me that I could help many more people via an advice column for those who are burdened by speech anxiety. My quest in doing so is to help you to unlock your potential, and to achieve your dream of becoming a confident communicator. I hope that by helping you to unlock your unique gift, you too will find your voice and learn that you are GREAT enough.
Cheers!
